City Gems

Paige Smith (also known as, a common name) has become a popular contributor to the world of street art. She as been installing rock formations or as she calls them, "Urban Geodes" in holes and crevices in major cities around the world. Her purpose of placing them in cities is to "signal the tension between nature and industry and celebrate the beauty of urban space." Each geode is created out of folded paper or cast resin to fit specifically in each chosen nook.
She began with placing her Urban Geodes around Los Angeles but she has also made her mark in San Francisco, Bali, Philadelphia, Madrid and Instanbul. If you are interested in installing her geodes in your own city, she has started a program where you can do so.
