Growing up I was never into antiques, flea markets or anything vintage. I always wanted everything to be new, bright and shiny. Since living in Los Angeles, I have been exposed to what a flea market could be and the things you can find. I learned that bringing in a vintage piece adds personality to your place and definitely offers some originality. If your city/town offers flea markets of its own, it might be something worth checking out. I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite finds below.
I love brass animal figurines so when I saw this guy, I knew I had to have him. I love the pose and it makes a great statement piece to my bookshelves.
I found this necklace on a recent trip to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. The necklace itself may not be vintage but I love the metal beads and it reminds me of my trip to Africa a year ago.
This vintage mirror is the first item I ever purchased at a flea market. I have a particular taste for items from the turn of the century and the seller dated this mirror to the early 1900's. I fell in love with the flower decal on the top and the beveled edges. I was surprised to find that the mirror is heavy - heavier than you would think - so I have yet to find the perfect wall for it to hang securely.
These two perfume bottles are also a recent purchase. Their design is fairly modern but I can't help but be a sucker for the gold detail and the frosted glass. They look great on a gold tray in my guest bathroom.
